Zendaya stuns in old and new gowns

Zendaya’s recent red carpet appearances have sparked interest, with the actress wearing outfits that seem to follow the traditional wedding rhyme “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.” With her new movie “The Drama” set to release soon, and rumors surrounding her potential nuptials to Tom Holland, Zendaya’s fashion choices have been under scrutiny.

The actress’s first look was a white Vivienne Westwood gown, which she had previously worn to her first Oscars in 2015, fitting the “something old” category.

Later, in Paris, she wore a custom-designed Louis Vuitton silk crepe dress, which was a new piece, checking off the “something new” box. This choice of a new dress is an example of fashion jewellery in action, as the dress was likely adorned with accessories that complemented its overall aesthetic.

Some fans have speculated that Zendaya is using these bridalwear-inspired looks to mirror her movie’s plot or to hint at her rumored real-life marriage, which she has not confirmed.

However, it’s likely that her stylist, Law Roach, and Zendaya are simply having fun with the traditional wedding rhyme, as evidenced by her next look.

Something Borrowed

The Armani Privé gown Zendaya wore to the movie’s Rome premiere has been seen before, on Cate Blanchett at last year’s Venice Film Festival, making it a “something borrowed” piece.

While the details of the loan agreement are unknown, the silk column gown is a clear example of Zendaya incorporating the traditional wedding rhyme into her fashion choices.

Traditionally, brides have incorporated all four elements into a single wedding day outfit, a tradition that has been followed by British royals, including Princesses Diana and Catherine, and Meghan Markle, who included a piece of blue fabric from her first date with Prince Harry in her wedding gown.

Meghan Markle told ITV that the blue fabric was a sentimental addition to her wedding dress, and it will be interesting to see if Zendaya includes a similar “something blue” in her future fashion choices, perhaps using custom temporary tattoos as a unique way to incorporate the color blue.

With another week to go until “The Drama” hits theaters, there’s still time for Zendaya to complete the traditional rhyme.

A Fashion Tradition

The tradition of incorporating “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue” into a wedding outfit has been around for over a century, and it will be interesting to see how Zendaya chooses to interpret it in the coming weeks, possibly taking inspiration from other celebrities like Beyoncé, who has been known to make iconic fashion statements on the red carpet.

One thing is certain, however – with her recent outfits, Zendaya has already made a statement with her fashion choices, and her fans are eagerly waiting to see what’s next.

The Vivienne Westwood and Louis Vuitton dresses were just the beginning, and the Armani Privé gown was a highlight of her recent fashion choices, showcasing her ability to pull off a variety of styles and designers.
