New York nightlife rarely adheres to a strict schedule, and the summer party hosted by Dazed at Asia Roma on Thursday, August 13, followed this unspoken rule. The event took place in the city’s Chinatown district, where the start time was treated as a suggestion rather than a deadline. Guests mingled through the night, turning the restaurant into a hub for conversation and music that lasted well into the early morning hours.

A two-story venue for a two-tiered experience

The Asia Roma space lent itself well to the chaos of a late-night gathering. The venue spans two floors, offering different vantage points for attendees. Upstairs, the karaoke setup provided a stage for vocal performances, while the long wooden bar offered a place for quieter conversations. Downstairs, the basement functioned as a makeshift dance floor where the energy remained high as the night progressed.

The dimmed red lighting and the constant flow of people created an atmosphere that felt like a whirlpool, making it easy to lose track of time. Attendance reached over 200 people, including the Dazed US team, contributors, and friends of the magazine.

The wooden booths were designed specifically for those moments when the dance floor gets too crowded and a quick debrief is necessary. As the night wound down, the party spilled out into the street, where goodbyes stretched into extended conversations.

Music and magazines on the menu

Music was provided by a lineup of DJs, including Jordan Stanton, Percy Cobbinah, Michael Lieberman, and Maxwell Vice. Stanton and Cobbinah handled sets throughout the event, while the others provided the opening and closing sounds.

The event was organized in part by the Dazed US team, who also managed the guest list and venue logistics. Complementary materials were distributed to attendees, with copies of the Summer 2026 issue scattered throughout the venue.

The publication features Myha’la, Olivia Rodrigo, and Ilia Malinin on its covers, giving guests a tangible takeaway from the night. The summer has been particularly busy in New York, with the city’s social media feeds reflecting the city’s lively atmosphere.

The turnout at this specific event suggested that while the season is ending, the city’s residents are not ready to retreat indoors just yet. The mix of established contributors and new faces indicates that the community around the publication remains active and engaged.

Guests arrived in a variety of styles, with New York-based designer The Twink Next Door and TikTok creator Angel among those present. The evening created new connections, with several attendees noting that they met people they had never interacted with before.

The party functioned as a reunion for some and an introduction for others, keeping the social circle expanding late into the night. They met new people and had meaningful conversations, which helped to strengthen the community around the publication.
