Adidas Originals unveiled its new Sport collection on Wednesday night atop Manhattan’s observation deck, The Edge, turning the 1,300‑foot‑high venue into a stage for a daring aerial performance.

Event blends fashion, athletics and spectacle

The evening began with a cocktail hour on the 100th floor, where guests explored displays of tracksuits, onesies and other pieces from the line. Four women in the new apparel performed a high‑wire dance along the side of the skyscraper, an unexpected finale that highlighted the brand’s focus on movement without sacrificing style.

Organizers described the show as a “sky dancing” celebration of the inaugural release, which aims to let women showcase personal style while meeting performance demands. The performance was accompanied by a runway‑like segment featuring pole artists, acrobats and dancers, reinforcing the athletic theme.

Athletes and artists share their impressions

Olympian heptathlete Anna Hall, who signed with the brand in 2022, told Vogue she appreciated Adidas’s history of supporting women’s sports. “I remember being so excited because they also sponsored my idol Jackie Joyner‑Kersee. Adidas had marketed the heptathlon before, and they really care about women’s sports,” Hall said while wearing a leotard from the new line.

Singer‑songwriter Coco Jones, dressed in a track jacket, recalled the cultural resonance of the three‑stripe motif. “If you had the 3‑stripes, [growing up] you were that girl,” she said, adding that the pieces evoke nostalgia from her teenage years.

Model Lori Harvey expressed enthusiasm for the retro vibe, noting that the release “brings that old‑school vibe that still feels fresh.” Ciara Miller discussed a trend she’s seeing among young women: “Girls are cutting their Adidas leggings below the knee. It’s a little capri, and it’s chic.”

After the aerial act, a DJ kept music flowing into the glass‑walled banquet room, where guests lingered amid the echo of the performance. The atmosphere blended high‑energy sound with the visual impact of the three‑stripe designs, creating a buzz that lingered throughout the night.

From a market standpoint, the event could signal a push for Adidas to deepen its presence in the premium athleisure segment. By pairing a high‑profile location with live performance, the brand may be aiming to differentiate its offerings from competitors that focus solely on product launches. If the release resonates with consumers, it could translate into stronger sales, especially as shoppers look for pieces that bridge casual wear and training gear.

Jones, who recently released the single “Body So Tea,” summed up the evening, saying, “My song is all about empowerment and loving yourself. And just today, at this event, I saw so many killer women—I mean women were on the side of the building, like come on! It just reminds me of all of the ways that women conquer and dominate.”

Participants such as Camila Morrone and Sarah Jane Nader mixed new tank tops with classic accessories, showing the collection’s blend of heritage and innovation.

Overall, the gathering served as both a product showcase and a statement of intent, positioning Adidas Originals as a brand that values performance, heritage and female empowerment in equal measure.
